Crafted in 1997 by Master Goldsmith Otto Roland Mellin for Kalevala, this brooch exemplifies traditional Finnish filigree craftsmanship and intricate metalwork. The piece pairs a central natural amethyst with delicate accent pearls, framed by an expansive 6 cm by 5.5 cm oval motif. Built from solid 14-karat yellow gold with a substantial 12.8-gram weight, the structure uses openwork scrollwork to remain lightweight and balanced on fabric rather than pulling on garments. At the base, three independently articulated teardrop drops respond to movement with a gentle, fluid sway. The textured finish across the gold scrolls softens light reflections, while a sturdy pin stem and safety catch on the reverse provide secure attachment for heavier knits, lapels, or scarves.
